		<description>Gentlemen:

I wish we could give regular progress updates but we are a small (very determined) group and the majority of us are working full time jobs in addition to fundraising. I have taken a break from logging donations to post this message. The Chairman hopes to post another update this week at www.qor.com, please keep your eye on that website. As always, Jan de Vries (1 Can Para) will be trying to spread the word through the media.

The donations keep coming in from near (Canada) and far (Afghanistan - Op Athena), and we are confident that the VC will remain in Canada.

Please do keep spreading the word, we need all the help we can get.

To donate:

Cheques or money orders should be made out to:
1st Canadian Parachute Battalion Museum Trust (short form - 1st Can Para Bn Museum Trust)

Mail to:
The Cpl. Fred Topham VC Fundraising Project
c/o The Queen&#039;s Own Rifles of Canada
130 Queen Street, East
Toronto ON M5A 1R9.

Tax receipts will be issued for donations over $ 20.00, we will start issuing receipts shortly.

Sincerely,

Kim Mathieson

<description>current serving member with the 3rd battalion RCR. just to inform you we too are collecting money within the battalion. wondering if this is a common goal amungst us. that is to say is the money raised between us going to be combined to buy back the VC a Canadian Paratrooper earned. (ironic). Either way, let&#039;s keep what is ours, ours.

<description>I spoke to the wife and will be sending a check although I have no association with the Airborne. I do find it my duty as a Canadian to help if I can and encourage others to as well.

It would be nice if the QOR page had a weekly or daily update of money collected (Thermometer style or something) to help motivate others to donate when they see how short they are and to show people who contributed that they are making a difference.

Maybe that tip can be passed to Mr. Gosse some how??

<description>I could not agree more. Our history is at stake, we have to stand together, as we were trained to do, to keep the most precious of momentos a soldier could have in its rightful place. Of all the factors that contribute to success in battle the spirit of the warrior is the most decisive. Fred Topham exemplified these words and his legacy should stand for all Canadians to see.
