I'm a Parachute Rigger in the U.S. Army Reserve. I spent two weeks with Hammy in the summer of 2007 touring the British and French countryside. He was a skilled parachutist, jack of all trades and a true Ambassador of Canada. I'm sure I can speak for the rest of the guys in the 421st QM CO (A) when I say that we all looked up to him. I was in Iraq when I heard of his passing and it was one of the most disheartening things I experienced while there. I am better for having met him briefly and hope to one day embody his traits. He will live on every time we tell stories from that summer. R.I.P. Mike Hamilton

I knew Hammy from my tours with the AB Regt, he was always so cheerful and helpful to all he came in contact with. To Mike's family I feel your sorrow and know the feelings you are going through, having just lost my daughter to cancer on the 11 Mar 09. Hammy will be missed by many, but will never be forgotten.
