3 Commando Reunion

When the CH-146 Griffon helicopter flew in to the DZ with the Airborne flag proudly held out the side by the JM's, I knew that times had changed. It was good to see the flag flying over Anzio again. When I left Petawawa seven years ago we weren't even allowed to wear Airborne t-shirts on base. Now we were receiving this show of support, mainly because of the hard work of Dan Langille, TC Elliot, Wayne Bartlett and other old troopers. Our thanks goes out to you guys for everything you have done.

When I arrived at the DZ, I was amazed by the number of cars parked by the road. As I walked in and glanced at all of the familiar names on the Range Control passes on each dashboard, the memories flooded back. Then as I stepped into the crowd of people outside the DZ shack, I immediately felt at home again.

The afternoon consisted of catching up with old friends, eating and watching enviously as 40 jumpers burned up 120 chutes with 2000' helicopter jumps. The crowd began to thin around three and re-conviened at the Kyrenia club just after five.

I was a bit depressed as I walked through our old lines and found that the 3 Commando barracks were now transient quarters, but was glad to see the Kyrenia club was still decked out in maroon and sky blue and her upper deck was crowded with troops in maroon drinking and telling war stories.

Here my wife got to meet the infamous Scotty Collins. Always the lady's man, Scotty sauntered up to her and said, "I wasn't in the Airborne, I was the Airborne." He took an immediate liking to her when she quickly replied, "I know, that is exactly what I've been told."

I took a few pictures and have added them to the Photos section of the site. Head over, check them out and don't forget to add your comments. I took too few pictures and got way too drunk, so if anyone would like to add their pictures in the albums, just let me know.

3Cdo Reunion

I think that I can speak on everyones behalf and congradulate and give a hearty AIRBORNE to T.C. Elliott, Dan Langelle and all the others who devoted their time and effort into making the reunion one that will live on in everyones memory. I know that for me it was an excellent time to see some old and maybe older faces and to throw my idle frame out of a helicopter one more time. (11 years ago was my last jump)
I look forward to the next reunion in 2005.

Until the current dysfunctional federal liberal
government is voted out and the Canadian Alliance Party form the next government, absolutely nothing
will happen militarily speaking.

Our government's true colours surfaced during the
Iraqi war - "yellow"

I might add the Canadian Alliance Party are pro-military, pro-maroon beret and pro-Airborne.
This is because the members of this party have
guts, balls & backbone.

Lets see if Canada will wake up and smell the roses
prior to the next election.

As for Paul Martin - he just another puppet
in Chretein's political camp.
