for the pointyheads who were responsible at the NDHQ level to answer
some career jeopardising questions.PIGS

As a former member of the Canadian army, one of the priorities of the Paul Martin's liberal government is upgrading our rag-tag Canadian Armed Forces. This includes re-instating the Canadian Airborne Regiment. Personally speaking, this elite regiment should have never been disbanded in the first place.

Just because a handful of idiots dragged Canada's name through the mud in Somalia
on the international stage; this is no reason to throw the baby out with the wash water. Percentage wise, I think
there are far more idiots running our
government in Ottawa. But do you see
governments getting disbanded. I think
not!

Also, with the threat of terrorism always breathing down our necks, Canada can no longer hold on to the United States coat tails. Right now, our military is a big joke-a laughing stock among many nations of the world today.

Where is the extra money going to come from? I think that our nation doesn't need all these social programs. There are far too many parasites sponging off the federal government today.
Basically, if Canadians dig in the heels and flatly refuse to work, let the lazy
turds starve to death.

The money saved by eliminating some of these useless social programs can be pumped into our badly needed military. As for the Canadian Airborne Regiment, our Canadian military needs a specially trained force to combat national and international terrorism. The LEG regiments don't have the military
expertise to cut it.

Disbanding the CAR was a criminal act by a cowardly administration.

It should never have happened.
From: Skyguard (Fri Apr 2 10:11:39 2004)
Although I was not able to complete the course for personal reasons, many good friends of mine did join your fine ranks. I am still serving and hope to see the day of your up rising.
From: Soon to be airborne (Mon Jun 7 23:04:16 2004)
I'm only 16 now and all i feel towards the disbandment of the Canadian airborne regiment is that i got cheated out of my chance to be part of the greatest body of men ever to tread on earth
From: M/CPL Sparks (Sun Jun 27 21:59:49 2004)
I cant believe that they actually disbanded the regiment because of a few people. It is 2004 and with all the things that the americans are doing the the iraqi POWs, i dont think that there going to disband any elite force that they have. I am joining the reserves next year and i hope they start it back up. They were the best of the best!
From: will476 (Fri Jul 16 19:59:30 2004)
the airborne was always a dream now i can only settle for 2nd best. one day someone in the govt will wake up and the glory shall rise more than ever.

A Family tradition, a family with hope to spare, the Airborne Regiment is where to be. The "CAR" will rise again cause my grandfather, my "father" and i will not rest to death untill this f@#%ing government does something to put it all together, but not just for me and family but for the country.
From: army_guy_329@hotmail.com (Sun Sep 26 16:08:26 2004)
The disbandment of the best family of fighting men the world has ever seen has been THE WORST move the Canadian Government has ever done. Men have poured their hearts out to defend their home from agressions of others, and what did they get because of some guys that thought they would be funny? They lost their brotherhood, their home. When I was younger I felt proud to see them on t.v. now I am disgusted with the way our "leaders" are screwing us around. I will honour the day the regiment rises again. Cheers to all!!!!!
From: Classixhalo (Mon Nov 8 18:31:58 2004)
the canadian army has been bad mouthed by many because of the lack of support we get from our government. being airborne seperates regular soldiers from the elite. these were they and now canada needs to get them back together. if they cant support us in founds the least they could do is kept the best group of fighting soldiers together
From: jamzoo00@hotmail.com (Fri Nov 12 05:31:57 2004)
Just want to say Hi to Rob and congrats on the web site. If Vinnie and Bokenfour are reading, Whats up bros? And to Shep(Dougie), I shared two significant incidents in Somalia with you and want to say that I will not forget them. AIRBORNE J.Kelleher
From: gettin my wings soon (Sun Jan 30 23:49:50 2005)
Some lazy politician decided that it would be easier to dispand the airborne regt than do some explaining and apologising. Figures.
From: Jon (Fri Feb 25 16:08:15 2005)
Just a question, What happened in Somalia that could be bad enough to disband the Best Regiment Canada had?
From: serge249@sympatico.ca (Sat Apr 2 05:48:00 2005)
I truly believe that resurection time will come. The one thing we have to keep in mind is we live in an ever changing world and the government of Canada will be forced to looking at the possibility of reinstating an elite force capable of a deployment of larger scale.
From: mike (Sat May 14 14:15:22 2005)
I was in a British Commando Engineer unit when I met a Canadian-born officer in 10 para Reg't of the British army in 1995. Alot of your bunch ended up in the UK airbourne after the disbanding and probably the US airbourne as well. I wonder how of the best Canadian soldiers have now ended up in other armies as a result of a ridiculous political decision. I can't believe that this won't be reversed in time.
From: billmart@telus.net (Wed Aug 31 00:03:48 2005)
Having served with charlie coy CDN. AB REGT 1969 It was a sad day to see them
disbanded. But they shall rise up someday. Airborne Bill (Marty) Martin

the day this happened I sat alone in the dark and cried for hours my wife must of thought I had lost my mind. That is until she found out want I was crying about
From: CDG (Tue Nov 22 22:55:24 2005)
Paul Martin didn't and wont bring back the greatest regimental name in Canadian history as was aspired by an earlier writer (look up)....But there will come a time, very soon I fear, that this fine group of soldiers will be wanted by all of the free world...And we will be gone. We were told to get out. We were told to feel shame. Well....We were....and will always be soldiers.....and they will want our kind back again.....RCAR FOREVER!!!!
From: specforce2@hotmail.com (Mon Nov 28 12:43:02 2005)
Leave it up to the f****** politicians. They dont understand us, no one does. the only ones who understand us are us. I joined the infantry because i wanted to do good for my country and meet a lot of buddies. instead, i met brothers. One day, you fine men will rise up again, and i will be there among the ranks, with tears in my eyes, proud to wear the maroon beret!!! AIRBOOOORRRRNNNEEEE!
From: seal_team6@hotmail.com (Sun Jan 22 23:16:58 2006)
The AIRBORNE REGT is the highest reward a soldat can go for in history it has always been the AIRBORNE first in last out the Canadian govt needs to make the reg"t active again and never stand down this fine group of Commando again for all of you that do not understand it is called Canadian PRIDE...
From: delgriffith@shaw.ca (Tue Jan 24 15:42:16 2006)
Anyone who follows politics knows that the Liberals are cowards, and seem prone to making silly decisions like disbanding an entire regiment over stupid things. Now that we finally have a pro-military Conservative government, maybe I will actually have a chance at going Airborne. One of Stephen Harper's first promises was to re-instate the Canadian Airborne Regiment, lets just hope he follows through with it.
From: Doc (Sat Jan 28 10:00:53 2006)
It's ok to fall down.....but it's not ok to not git back up!....Airborne is alive and will only get bigger.....ya' can't stop it......
From: Jean-Michel Tanguay (Wed Feb 22 10:09:15 2006)
Ottawa is planning on a new regiment : Canadian Special Operation Regiment. I know it won't be like the disbanded Airborne Regiment, who was the goal of many young soldier like me. Airborne Regiment got disbanded and that was the biggest mistake...now this army is becoming a real joke, anybody can join, physical standard are going down and at one time, they were even talking about removing the Jump Course, this army look more like a circus than an Army of Proud Canadian Soldiers these days. Motivation's gone, challenge took the same road...please bring it back !!!
From: Tyler Burgoyne (Sat Apr 1 14:21:31 2006)
man they really should not have disbanded it i love the Airborne im a army cadet right now a cadet Corporal in the 1188 Lorne scots and if Stephen Harper does bring the airborne back im trying for it it's what i've always wanted to do wear the maroon beret and wings proudly i've always had a odd urge to jump out of planes into a combat zone
From: MCpl Holt (Tue Jun 20 09:46:38 2006)
I'm F****** sick of these goddamn politicians killing the canadian forces. The disband of the Airborne Regiment should never have happened when I was a kid I always wanted to be a Paratrooper serving in the most Elite Regiment in the Army. Currently im in Cadets 2784 GGFG I want to join 3 RCR M Coy or 3 PPCLI C Coy. I sure hope Harper sticks with the Goddamn promises he made and bring back the AIRBORNE. For me it would be an honor for me to wear the Maroon Beret and wear the silver leaf Jump Wings and serving with the best Soldiers in the world.
